The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
