From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
